The spectacular robustness of The strongest infantry weapon[]

It would be very robust. You can take Power Pack for D12 weapons, like Blaster Cannon or Heavy Blaster Cannon, so in that case this contraption in 5 power packs variant would do 10d12 damage with cost of 130$ (5 packs, 25 each, plus 5 for a roll of Mesh Tape) and weight 1 KG (0,5 roll of mesh tape + 0.1 per power pack). 95.71.72.239 14:51, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Then, rules-as-written, you can turn this bomb into Missile Load (it is listed in Grenades, it can be thrown as grenade, it has "Category:Grenades" in it's page, it has same mass as Thermal Detonator and Remote Grenade - so it is a grenade), what would increase damage to 15d12. 95.71.72.239 14:51, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

For comparison, regular Concussion Grenade/Thermal Detonator is 8d6, Concussion Grenade/Thermal Detonator Missile Load is 12d6, Miniature Proton Torpedo Launcher has 6d10, Light Concussion Missile Launcher has 4d10*2, Miniature Proton Torpedo Launcher anti-vehicle mode has 6d10*2. Missile Load Power Pack Bomb even goes toe-to-toe with full-sized Proton Torpedo Launcher (Robust Missile Load Power Pack Bomb with 15d12 has 97,5 mean damage, Proton Torpedo has mean damage of 99). 95.71.72.239 14:51, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Overall it feels like equivalent of Phoron (pink gaseous toxic plasma) Bombs from Space Station 13 - both can be made easily by unprofessional without any complex tools, both can fail spectacularly, both produce massive explosions when made right, both have the explosion power varying and depending on what recipie was used and on skills of maker. 109.62.227.217 14:36, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

It would be more powerful if you somehow find Power Packs for Vehicle weapons. It's very difficult to find one in rules - but if it can be found, it will be very strong. 109.62.227.217 14:48, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

  • No - they have same D10 dice. Did you find any D14 or stronger weapons? 109.62.227.217 14:48, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
    • I think what game doesn't use dice of size bigger than D12. If you find something with big dice, you can prove me wrong. 95.71.10.94 14:18, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Does damage type of weapon effect bomb's damage type? For example, can you make this thing in Stun or Ion variants by taking Power Packs from weapon with that type of damage? 109.62.227.217 15:06, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

As far as i can remember, round equals 6 seconds. So bomb explodes in about 5 rounds. 109.62.227.217 15:13, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

If you want to make these em masse, buy Mesh Tape Dispenser - that's effectively infinite mesh tape. It will save you money. 109.62.227.217 16:30, 12 December 2023 (UTC)

  • You will go into net gain on second RPPB - Mesh Tape costs 5, and Mesh Tape Dispenser costs 10 for Medium character. Not to mention it has a lot of other uses. 95.71.10.94 11:54, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

What makes 15d12 Power Pack Missile even more robust is the fact what missiles immediately explode on impact - this means what, in case of missile variant, the "unpredictability" gets neutralized. If your GM thinks what it doesn't explode on impact, it would be very awkward to track how missile erratically flies over all map before eventually exploding somewhere. 95.71.10.94 11:59, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Now, if that 15d12 missile is shot by Elite Trooper with Deadly Strike, it will automatically deal maximum possible damage - what is 180 points of damage. Add in the fact what such character will have about +25 to-hit bonus before rolling D20. If i understand TvTopes text right, that'll be about 205 points of damage. And remember - all of this is 125 + 5 (or 0 with Mesh Tape Dispenser) + 250 = 375/380 CR rocket and 1500 Missile Launcher - all of that is cheap and can be made of scrap, so it would be easily affordable even for rebels 95.71.10.94 08:14, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Normal 10d12 bombs cost 130 (or 125 with Mesh Tape Dispenser) credits to make - meaning they are cheaper than normal grenades and than Explosives. This makes them easily spammable. 95.71.10.94 10:50, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

  • And that also means they are spammable from the early game (from first level), when most things won't have HP enough to survive even one hit. 95.71.10.94 10:14, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
  • Timer costs additional 250 (375-380 CR), and has big chance of immediate detonation (what means "instant death" for many characters, as that's 97.5 mean damage unless you dodge); so you should not make timer variants, and use Missile Load variant for that "reliable" niche. 95.71.10.94 10:50, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
  • More over, Power Pack Bomb is better than Explosives (even the Power Pack Bomb made of Licensed Bryar Rifle power packs is stronger than Explosive Charge), as it will explode eventually; despite it's unreliability, misfires are impossible for some reason, meaning the question is when, not if, it will explode. This makes it good in situations when it doesn't matter when it explodes. 95.71.10.94 10:50, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Considering Restricted Items:

Let's use abbreviations; the 10d12 bomb will be "RPPB" (Robust Power Pack Bomb), and it's 15d12 Missile Load variant will be "RPPM" (Robust Power Pack Missile). 95.71.10.94 13:15, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

  • Another name variant: because power pack bomb can't be made stronger than 10D12 and 15D12 missile, you can call it "Maxcap". Therefore, another abbreviation variant is "MPPB" (Maxcap Power Pack Bomb) and "MPPM" (Maxcap Power Pack Missile). But you can use both "RPPB"/"RPPM" and "MPPB"/"MPPM" names, however you like. Say what name you likes the most if you want. 95.71.10.94 14:18, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
  • It gets even more egregious when you remember what Missile Launcher doesn't have penalty for shooting at small targets. This means what you could, for example, shoot your super-robust-missile at high-level foes who would otherwise endure a lot of anti-infantry weapon fire. 95.71.10.94 13:15, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
    • And even more egregious on top of that is what high-level characters actually could survive such attacks; for example, Darth Sidious at full health is nearly guaranteed to survive a direct hit of RPPM shot by someone without any setup, and has reasonable chances of survival when hit by RPPM shot by character of comparable level. 95.71.10.94 13:15, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
      • Remember what it's 2-square Burst. This means what it's effective against both strong and weak targets; in other words, it's good against anything at all. 95.71.10.94 13:19, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
      • And Missile Launcher has magazine of 4 missiles, and one Full-Round Action is enough to reload the whole magazine. There's great chance what, by the time magazine empties, everything will be destroyed, including the map itself. 95.71.10.94 13:19, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
    • The only minus of it is what it's damage is Energy - that's listed in Grenades - and therefore it's stopped by Shield Rating. However, RPPB's and RPPM's can overcome that with raw damage alone. 95.71.10.94 13:01, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

Do you remember Deadly Strike Elite Trooper from Star Wars D20? RPPM guy does the same thing - though in our case he doesn't even need to be Elite Trooper - he just needs to be someone who can effectively use Heavy Weapons. RPPM essentially re-creates this game-breaker, but even better:

The another thing to consider is what many vehicles don't have Total Crew Cover - Cover may negate damage from Area Attacks with a good roll, but there's still the fact what good shot will turn some vehicle's crew into mincemeat. Also, RPPM's damage is so high, what most of characters without cover (including crew of vehicles with no crew cover) are going to be killed even on miss from the rocket. 95.71.114.15 17:15, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Now i get an even more ridiculous idea; you add Overload Switch to Missile Launcher loaded with RPPM (it's possible - Missile Launcher can shoot Energy rockets, and RPPM deals Energy damage, so it qualifies as "any Energy weapon"; Overload Switch is attached to Missile Launcher, not to it's munitions, so it passes the "cannot be added to Grenades, Mines, or other Explosives" restriction). That contraption, when self-destructing, will deal 30d12 damage (average 195), and will cost 2125 credits. It's one-time use, it's costly (at least in comparison to cost of normal RPPB's and RPPM's), and it's bulky, but it's damage is absurd - that's a little bit more damage than a direct hit from Heavy Turbolaser. If you have some time to spare, use RPPM's; but you can use it if you want to one-shot something or blow up something too big even for RPPM's. 95.71.114.15 18:02, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

    • I would call it "Robust Power Pack Overloaded Missile Launcher" ("RPPOML"). 95.71.114.15 18:02, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
      • "RPPB" means "Robust Power Pack Bomb" (10D12, 125 CR), "RPPM" is "Robust Power Pack Missile" (15D12, 375 CR), and as stated, "RPPOML" is "Robust Power Pack Overloaded Missile Launcher" (30D12, 2125 CR). 95.71.114.15 18:13, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

You can shoot enemies with RPPM's even if they are standing point-blank to you; just shoot a little bit away from yourself, so they will be in blast radius, but your character won't. 95.71.113.173 19:34, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

Also, if needed, you can use Unleashed Keen Shot to ignore Cover for a shot, including Total Cover. That means what, if you use Destiny Point, you can hit someone with RPPM (RPPB and RPPOML are also possible), even if they are behind solid wall, or in a massive Vehicle. And on top of that, RPPB/RPPM/RPPOML damage in a big radius (not only targeting multiple enemies, but also allowing bigger chance of guessing their position right and hitting the right target) and even if they miss. And on top of that, in that case, enemies may stand in a packed group and/or don't expect the impact of wall-phasing missile. --109.62.210.139 14:55, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

  • Game has methods of locating characters through walls; for example, Farseeing. In case nothing works, you can shoot at a place where something important usually located (like throne room, or ship's bridge), in hopes what you will hit someone important. --109.62.210.139 15:02, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Since Power Pack Bombs were removed from Grenades, doing RPPMs and RPPOMLs is now impossible. 10d12 RPPB/Maxcap is still possible. But, as stated in Explosives, you can pile up Maxcaps for increased damage. But, usually blowing them up separately is more effective. --109.62.164.162 21:04, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

There it is, in actual Rulebook, on Page 108. It's weapon type is not properly stated - but, it behaves simultaneously like Grenade and Explosive. Therefore, it is simultaneously Grenade and Explosive. --109.62.165.182 10:20, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
