During The Pre-Republic Era, a warmongering Species of destroyers scourged the ancient galaxy. Known as the Esh-kha, this race of conquerors had set it upon themselves to cleanse the galaxy of all other Species whom the Esh-kha believed were abominations that had to be purged. Culturally, the Esh-kha act as something of a synchronous hive-mind though made up of individuals with free will these individuals operate according to the rigid needs and casts of The Esh-kha Collective with little room for disagreement or individual agency.
The marauding Esh-kha destroyed dozens of slave worlds that belonged to The Infinite Empire, eventually attracted the attention of the fearsome Rakata who assembled a massive military force against this threat. The resulting conflict is the largest scale conflict of this era, covering all the known galaxy at the time, and left the few surviving Esh-kha imprisoned on Belsavis.
By The Great Galactic War, the security systems of Belsavis began to break down, leading to the Esh-kha being freed from stasis. Once freed, they began to resume their campaign of ruthless expansion and zealous combat. As time moved on, they continue to recover more technology and strange weapons as they attempt to return back to the stars.
Esh-kha Characteristics[]
Personality: Esh-kha appear to outsiders as violent savages, caring only for the destruction of all other Species. Esh-kha only turn violent against one another in the most extreme of circumstances.
Physical Description: The Esh-kha are a gray-skinned humanoid Species with equine features, including muzzles and digitigrade legs. They also had small black eyes, your skins and hair is gray, horizontal head protrusions, and tridactyl limbs.

Homeworld: The Esh-kha arose from an unknown and isolated homeworld. The Infinite Empire, after winning the resulting conflict with The Esh-kha Collective, imprisoned a hundred thousand defeated Esh-kha survivors to the prison world of Belsavis.
Languages: The ancient hissing tongue of Esh-kha. This is one of the oldest languages in the galaxy.
Example Names: Esh-kha were not named at birth but instead earned their names through their actions, gaining such "Titles" as: Sharpest Eye, Hidden Blade, Red Walker, Blood Scream, Skull Shatter, Hallow Voice, Gore Claw, Hunter Moon, Heart Rend.
Adventurers: Esh-kha tend to be lean toward the Soldier Heroic Class, as well as Nobles to guide them again to the glory of its ancient society, and Scouts in order to seek lost technologies. Skillful users of The Force follow ancient and mysterious traditions, assuming leadership roles within the Esh-kha castes, known as Patriarchs.
Esh-kha Species Traits[]
Esh-kha share the following Species Traits:
- Ability Modifiers: All Esh-kha receive a +2 bonus to both their Strength and Dexterity, but suffer -2 penalties to their Wisdom and Charisma. Esh-kha are strong and well-coordinated, but are impetuous, acting first in the interest of their own race over anything else.
- Medium Size: As Medium creatures, Esh-kha have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- Speed: Esh-kha have a base speed of 6 squares.
- Ancient Knowledge: Esh-kha reduce the penalty for not being proficient in a weapon from -5 to -2, and reduce the Armor Check Penalty for Armor they are not proficient in by one step (-5 for Heavy Armor, -2 for Medium Armor, and no penalty for Light Armor). All other penalties for not being proficient still apply.
- Additionally, once per encounter the Esh-kha can use a Trained-only application of the Mechanics, Pilot, Treat Injury, or Use Computer skills, even if Untrained in that Skill.
- Persistent: An Esh-kha can reroll any Endurance check, but the result of the reroll must be accepted, even if it is worse.
- Scent: Esh-kha have a keen sense of smell. At close range (within 10 squares), Esh-kha ignore Concealment and Cover for purposes of Perception checks, and take no penalty from poor visibility while Tracking.
- Automatic Language: All Esh-kha can speak, read, and write Esh-kha.
