Conversion of DnD 3e Weapons to Star Wars Saga Edition. Star Wars Saga Edition ancestry goes to D20 Modern - whose ancestry goes to Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition (Pathfinder is also derived from Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition); so, rules are still similar enough to adapt them. It could also work the other way around (from Star Wars Saga Edition to other games).

Compare "Star Wars D20 to DnD 3.5e Weapons Conversion".

DnD 3e Weapons Conversion[]

  • Cost: Needs conversion from Gold Pieces to Credits - but most costs are a bit inconsistent. Possible variants: 1GP = 12.5 CR (Knife vs Dagger); 1GP = 8.5 (Crossbow vs Crossbow, Light); 1 GP = 4 CR (Mace vs Mace, Heavy); etc. Work in progress.
  • Damage, Damage Type: Same as in DnD 3E. Types may-be added if it makes sense (e.g. you can slash and stab with a sword).
  • Critical: Critical damage works like in Star Wars Saga Edition and doesn't usually depend on used weapon.
  • Weapon type: All weapons count as Simple Weapons - as that's the category used for things like swords and bows. After all, Star Wars people are smarter than medieval, and passed proper military training.
  • Reach: Same as in DnD 3E. Character scale square is 1.5 meters (about 5 feet; actually closer to ≈ 4,92126 feet) - so, it's easy to convert Feet into Squares.
  • Weight: Same, re-calculated into Metric system (KG).
  • Range of ranged weapons: Can be substituted with typical Simple Weapons (Ranged) range. Alternatively, it remains the same as in DnD 3E - but gets re-calculated from Feet to Squares.
  • Tripping, Disarming: Works like in Star Wars Saga Edition.

These weapons could be further modified by other methods - such as turning them into Vibro-Weapons by some way, or into other type of modernized weapon... After being modernized, many weapons would be outright vicious.

Example: Greatsword[]

Weapon Type: Simple Weapons (Melee)

Size: Large

Cost: 40GP; from 160 CR (Mace method calculation) to 500 CR (Knife method calculation)

Damage: 2d6

Weight: 6.803886 Kilograms

Type: Slashing or Piercing

Example: Chain, Spiked[]

Weapon Type: Simple Weapons (Melee)

Size: Large

Cost: 25GP; from 100 CR (Mace method calculation) to 312.5 CR (Knife method calculation)

Damage: 2d4

Weight: 6.803886 Kilograms

Type: Slashing

Reach:: 10 feet, or a little more than ≈ 2 Character scale squares. Can be used against adjacent foe.

Special: Can trip. Can disarm; +2 to Disarm. If you can wield it at all, you can use Weapon Finesse to apply Dexterity modifier instead of Strength modifier to attack rolls with a spiked chain.

D20 Modern Weapons Conversion[]

See small D20 Modern Wiki and D20 Modern Equipment on DnD Wiki (lots of it is Homebrew).

  • Damage: Same as in D20 Modern.
  • Damage Type:
    • Variant 1: "Ballistic type" may created as new type; all Ranged bullet-using weapons will switch to it.
    • Variant 2: In Star Wars Saga Edition, "Ballistic type" counts as Piercing.
  • Cost: Sweet liberty, NO! "Purchase DC" system is schizophrenic, and not all items have $ cost. But we'll try to convert $ to Cr regardless. Work in progress.
  • Fire type: Works the same; Single-Shots, Autofire, etc.
  • Size: Same? Star Wars Saga Edition weapons are often bulkier and heavier than D20 Modern weapons of same Size.
  • Weight: Same, converted from Lbs to KG.
  • Weapon Type: "Handguns"=Pistols; "Longarms"=Rifles;"Heavy Ranged Weapons"=Heavy Weapons;"Other Ranged Weapons"=Some sort of ranged weapon, but varies from model to model.
    • If you wield the weapon with one hand with Folded Stock, you (will? may?) count it as Pistol.
  • Reload types:
    • Box: A box magazine is any type of magazine that can be removed and reloaded separately from the weapon. Reloading a firearm with an already filled box magazine is a move action. Refilling a box magazine is a full-round action.
    • Cylinder: A revolver keeps its ammunition in a cylinder, which is part of the weapon and serves as the firing chamber for each round as well. Unlike box magazines, cylinders can’t be removed, and they must be reloaded by hand. However, most revolvers can be used with a speed loader. Using a speed loader is much like inserting a box magazine into a weapon. Without a speed loader, a firearm with a cylinder magazine must be loaded by hand. Reloading a firearm with an speed loader is a move action. Refilling a speed loader, or reloading a revolver without a speed loader is a full-round action.
    • Internal: Some weapons keep their ammunition in an internal space, which must be loaded by hand. This is the case with most shotguns, as well as some rifles. Refilling any weapon with an internal magazine is a full-round action.
    • Linked: Some machine guns use linked ammunition. The bullets are chained together with small metal clips, forming a belt. Typically, a belt holds 50 bullets; any number of belts can be clipped together. In military units, as the gunner fires, an assistant clips new ammunition belts together, keeping the weapon fed. Loading a belt of linked ammunition is a full-round action. Linking two belts together is a move action.
  • Restricted Items: Apparently, same.
  • Range: either like normal weapons of it's type - or same as in d20 Modern and re-calculated into Squares. Preferably, use whichever is bigger - since pistol having range of 8 squares is just lame (for example, in D20 Modern, Beretta 92F would have range of ≈ 8,12 squares; that's nonsense, so we buff it up).

Example: Beretta 92F[]

Weapon Type: Pistols

Size: Small

Cost: I'm just as confused as you!

Damage: 2d6

Stun Setting: NO

Rate of Fire: Single-Shot

Weight: 1,360777 Kilograms

Type: Ballistic (Piercing?)

Magazine: 15 Box.

Ammo type: 9mm Industrial Gunpowder Bullets

Range: Normal Pistol range, so it could shoot farther.

Example: HK MP5K[]

Weapon Type: Rifles

Size: Medium

Cost: I'm just as confused as you!

Damage: 2d6

Stun Setting: NO

Rate of Fire: Single-Shot, Autofire

Weight: 2,267962 Kilograms

Type: Ballistic (Piercing?)

Availability: Restricted

Magazine: 15 Box; can be replaced with 30 Box.

Ammo type: 9mm Industrial Gunpowder Bullets

Range: Normal Rifle range, so it could shoot farther.

M72A3 LAW[]

Weapon Type: Heavy Weapons

Size: Large

Cost: I'm just as confused as you!

Damage: 10d6

Stun Setting: NO

Rate of Fire: Single-Shot

Weight: 6.803886 Kilograms

Type: Slashing?

Availability: Military

Magazine: 1 Internal.

Ammo type: M72A3 LAW Rockets

Range: Normal Heavy Weapons range, so it could shoot farther.

Special: Normally, the M72 has a minimum range of 30 feet (≈ 6 Squares). If fired against a target closer than 30 feet away, it does not arm and will not explode. The minimum range feature can be disabled, if you don't mind rockets blowing up near your face.

Special: When the LAW hits its target, it explodes like a grenade or other explosive, dealing its 10d6 points of damage to all creatures within a 10-foot radius (≈ 2 Squares; Reflex save DC 18 for half damage). Because its explosive features a shaped charge designed to penetrate the armor of military vehicles, the LAW ignores up to 10 points of hardness (Damage Reduction?) if it strikes a vehicle, building, or object. However, this only applies to the target struck, not to other objects within the burst radius.
