Brainworm Rot is an extremely deadly affliction noted to have been found in humanoid and cephalopod Species with high levels of dialogen in their bloodstream. The list of Species that are most likely to be affected by Brainworm Rot includes Humans and Near-Humans, Anomids, Duros, Neimoidians and Wol Cabasshites. The disease attack the brain and central nervous system of its victimis, killing them in a short period of time if left untreated. Symptoms include nausea, cold sweats, the inability to process written instructions, syntax errors in spoken and written communication, and isolated purpling of gills and blowholes.

The virus is particularly common in Neimoidian-inhabited planets such as Cato Neimoidia and Neimoidia, whose spaceports have been quarantined on many occasions because of Brainworm Rot epidemic outbreaks: many spacers in fact sarcastically claim that the main export of the Neimoidian home planet is Brainworm Rot Type C. At least in one occasion, the virus was used as a bioweapon by The Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.

Brainworm Rot is found in three different types: Brainworm Rot Type A, Brainworm Rot Type B, and Brainworm Rot Type C.

  • Brainworm Rot Type A is the most common type. It uses the statistics shown below.
  • Brainworm Rot Type B is slightly milder than Brainworm Rot Type A, but nonetheless can be lethal if left untreated. It has the following statistics: CL 4, Attack: +9 vs Fortitude Defense, Damage: 2d4 (-1 Persistent on the Condition Track).
  • Brainworm Rot Type C hits some Species harder than others. It shares the same statistics as Brainworm Rot Type A, with the following differences: it takes a +2 bonus to attack rolls against Anomids, Duros, Humans, Near-Humans, Neimoidians and Wol Cabasshites, but it also takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls against all the other Species.

Brainworm Rot Type A Statistics (CL 6)[]

Keywords: Atmosphere, Disease, Natural

Trigger: A creature is exposed to the Brainworm Rot Type A.

Attack: +11 vs Fortitude Defense

Damage: 2d6 (-1 Persistent step on the Condition Track)

Recurrence: Daily, until the Brainworm Rot Type A is treated.

Suggested Skills: The following are suggested Skills for this Hazard:

Special: A creature affected by Brainworm Rot Type A suffers a temporary penalty to its Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma score equal to the number of steps it is below its Condition Track (-1 to -4). If Brainworm Rot Type A pushes the target to the bottom of the Condition Track, the target dies instead of falling unconscious. Once a creature has been exposed to this specific type of the Brainworm Rot Type A and the Disease has been treated, that creature cannot contract that specific type of the Disease again (for example, if a creature that has been exposed to Brainworm Rot Type A and the Disease has been treated, that creature cannot contract Brainworm Rot Type A again, but can still contract Brainworm Rot Type B and Brainworm Rot Type C if exposed to them).

Brainworm Rot Type B Statistics (CL 4)[]

Keywords: Atmosphere, Disease, Natural

Trigger: A creature is exposed to the Brainworm Rot Type B.

Attack: +9 vs Fortitude Defense

Damage: 2d4 (-1 Persistent step on the Condition Track)

Recurrence: Daily, until the Brainworm Rot Type B is treated.

Suggested Skills: The following are suggested Skills for this Hazard:

Special: A creature affected by Brainworm Rot Type B suffers a temporary penalty to its Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma score equal to the number of steps it is below its Condition Track (-1 to -4). If Brainworm Rot Type B pushes the target to the bottom of the Condition Track, the target dies instead of falling unconscious. Once a creature has been exposed to this specific type of the Brainworm Rot Type B and the Disease has been treated, that creature cannot contract that specific type of the Disease again (for example, if a creature that has been exposed to Brainworm Rot Type B and the Disease has been treated, that creature cannot contract Brainworm Rot Type B again, but can still contract Brainworm Rot Type A and Brainworm Rot Type C if exposed to them).

Brainworm Rot Type C Statistics (CL 6)[]

Keywords: Atmosphere, Disease, Natural

Trigger: A creature is exposed to the Brainworm Rot Type A.

Attack: +9 vs Fortitude Defense (+13 vs Fortitude Defense if the target is Anomid, Duros, Human, Near-Human, Neimoidian or Wol Cabasshite)

Damage: 2d6 (-1 Persistent step on the Condition Track)

Recurrence: Daily, until the Brainworm Rot Type C is treated.

Suggested Skills: The following are suggested Skills for this Hazard:

Special: A creature affected by Brainworm Rot Type C suffers a temporary penalty to its Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma score equal to the number of steps it is below its Condition Track (-1 to -4). If Brainworm Rot Type C pushes the target to the bottom of the Condition Track, the target dies instead of falling unconscious. Once a creature has been exposed to this specific type of the Brainworm Rot Type C and the Disease has been treated, that creature cannot contract that specific type of the Disease again (for example, if a creature that has been exposed to Brainworm Rot Type C and the Disease has been treated, that creature cannot contract Brainworm Rot Type C again, but can still contract Brainworm Rot Type A and Brainworm Rot Type B if exposed to them).
