Anakin distinguishes himself early in the Clone Wars as one of the most versatile pilots in The Jedi Order; able to control anything from a Speeder Bike to a Republic Gunship. His skill is evident during his first campaign in the Clone Wars against the Separatists' Dark Reaper Superweapon Project. The campaign began with the evacuation of Rhen Var and is followed up with the invasion of Raxus Prime, where Anakin is captured by Count Dooku and taken to Alaris Prime- testing ground for the newly recovered Force Harvester.
After stealing a Confederate tank and infiltrating an enemy base, Anakin contacts the Republic for assistance, to which Obi-Wan and his army respond and rescue the reckless Padawan. Then the pair travel to Rhen Var where Anakin learns the secret to resist the effects of The Dark Reaper. When Republic Intelligence discovers The Dark Reaper on Thule, Anakin is dispatched to destroy the Sith superweapon. With the guidance of the ancient Jedi spirit Ulic Qel-Droma, Anakin completes his mission and disables The Dark Reaper piece by piece before finally destroying the Force Harvester.
As the Clone Wars rages on, Anakin and Obi-Wan are dispatched to Christophsis, providing assistance with a small contingent of troopers. The two are caught in a surprise attack, costing Anakin and Obi-Wan's forces their weapons depot, including their gunship compliment, and stranding them on the planet while Asajj Ventress stalks the shadows.
Much to Anakin's chagrin, instead of reinforcements, a Padawan Learner named Ahsoka Tano arrives and is placed under the tutelage of Skywalker by the Jedi Council. When the Separatists erect an energy shield and began pressing their advance, Obi-Wan leads their forces while Anakin and his new Padawan sneak behind enemy lines to disable the shield. Anakin and Ahsoka work well together and succeed in destroying the enemy shield generator. With the enemy ranks vulnerable to their artillery rounds, Kenobi and Skywalker's troops handily defeated the Separatist forces and take General Whorm Loathsom into custody.
