Soldiers from The Ailon Nova Guard that have their five-year military training completed are among the most valiant combatants that the Galaxy can offer. This template represents the typical fully-trained Ailon Nova Guard Soldier. Each soldier of The Ailon Nova Guard is issued a Battle Armor, a Blaster Rifle with affixed Grenade Launcher and Vibrobayonet, and a Sidearm Blaster Pistol; furthermore, he/she has gained the privilege to carry in battle a modernized form of the traditional Eklot sword, a Vibroblade whose blade is coated with a powerful neurotoxin which is kept in a dedicated sealed scabbard. In addition to standard equipment, specialized weaponry may be issued to troops in case of specific tactical needs: for example, a Light Concussion Missile Launcher or Miniature Proton Torpedo Launcher to counter armoured vehicles; a Fire Blade or Vibro-Saw to open a way through dense vegetation and barbed wire; Explosive Charges to open breaches in fortified buildings; and specialized forms of Thinsuit with Environmental Systems for missions in extreme environments. In battle, Nova Guard divisions work together to systematically outthink, outflank, and overwhelm their enemy. Ailon Nova Guard Soldiers are fueled by a fierce rivalry towards The Mandalorians, and if an engagement between The Ailon Nova Guard and some Mandalorian faction takes place, then a no-prisoner policy is expected to be applied by both sides towards each other.
Use in Play[]
Ailon Nova Guard Soldiers are often sent as a part of a first wave of attack against an entrenched enemy position, and they consider a high honour to fulfill this role; but they do not mindlessly charge into the enemy ranks, preferring instead a Shock-and-Awe tactical approach which is more brutal, effective and helps in keeping friendly casualties as down as possible. In most cases, Ailon Nova Guard Soldiers would go to assault supported by allied Vehicles and artillery fire, using their Grenade Launchers loaded with Concussion Grenades to soften up the enemy at distance and also using Smoke Grenades to cover their advance. Then they would close up, looking for cover and proceeding to shot down enemy survivors with a combination of Autofire Assault and Burst Fire or proceeding to snipe in Single-Shot mode, depending on situation. Finally, they would proceed to storm a weakened enemy position using both blaster fire and melee weapons combined with Powerful Charge. Severely injuried soldiers (those reduced to less than a third Hit Points and having already depleted their Second Wind) would disengage from combat, exploiting cover or using the Fight Defensively option to move towards a safer position and then rotate with fresh comrades in order to cut to minimum their losses, then continuing to provide support to frontline units with grenade launchers and sniper fire while staying at distance. Severely injured Ailon Nova Guard Soldiers that are unable to do a tactical retreat are likely to fight to the death, though they would surrender without hesitation if their commanders would order them to do so.
The Eklot is considered here as a Vibroblade (Spring-Loaded) coated with Plant Toxin (Attack: +10 vs Fortitude Defense; Damage: 2d8 (-1 Persistent step on the Condition Track; Half Damage on Miss); Treat Injury (DC 23; Requires Medical Kit): The Persistent Condition caused by the Plant Toxin is removed). The Eklot is kept in a special Sheath with Environmental Sealing so that the toxin can be applied before the start of a battle and is not going to become inert as long as the weapon's blade is inside the sheath. After a successful attack against a target or after 1 minute (10 rounds) of exposure to the atmosphere, whichever comes first, the Poison on blade becomes inert.
