212th Attack Battalion

The 212th Attack Battalion was a Clone Trooper Battalion serving under the 7th Sky Corps in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The battalion was led by Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Marshal Commander Cody in several major engagements, such as the Battle of Christophsis, the Battle of Teth, the Battle of the Abrion Bridge, the Battle of Ryloth, the First Battle of Felucia, the Second Battle of Geonosis, the Battle of Umbara and the Battle of Utapau. In the aftermath of the Clone Wars, the 212th was absorbed into the Imperial Military under the newly-established Galactic Empire. As an Imperial Stormtrooper Battalion, the 212th Attack Battalion subjugated the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk under the command of General Kahdah. During the Clone Wars, all members of the 212th Attack Battalion wore Clone Trooper Armor decorated with orange patterns to denote their affiliation.

Selected from the most promising clone candidates and subjected to particularly harsh training, the Clone Troopers of the 212th Attack Battalion are markedly superior in battle to ordinary Clone Troopers. Accustomed to fighting in a wide variety of difficult terrains ranging from the desert wastelands of Geonosis and Ryloth to the jungles of Felucia and Kashyyyk, they are also adept at using heavy weapons like the E-Web Repeating Blaster and the Light Concussion Missile Launcher. Their weapon of choice in most situations is the DC-15A Heavy Variable Blaster, while the DC-15A Blaster Carbine is wielded when close-quarter combat is expected.

A Squad composed by a few 212th Attack Battalion Clone Troopers operating at close distance from each other can be a terrific sight on battlefield. These small Squads are at their best when their members operate behind Cover against an exposed enemy, but their formation is generally avoided in all those combat situations that involve the presence of heavy enemy artillery fire. If fighting enemies positioned at relatively close distances, one member of the Squad might switch from Heavy Variable Blaster to Blaster Carbine in order to be able to make Attacks of Opportunity: in this tactical configuration, Heavy Variable Blaster attacks at Long Range take a -2 penalty to hit because the Squad member wielding the Blaster Carbine cannot support them (this is due to the Blaster Carbine being Inaccurate and not capable to fire at targets at Long Range, thus reducing the Aid Another Squad bonus from +4 to +2), but the Squad is able to make Attacks of Opportunity with the Blaster Carbine without needing to put away the Heavy Variable Blaster.
